Who Should Attend?

This workshop series will be most appropriate for those leading teams in their schools. Teams are also welcome to attend together as a group.  Other team leaders, such as those leading grade level teams or departmental teams will also find the practices and skills useful as they navigate the tricky waters of creating a high functioning teams that are aligned teams around shared goals.  

 

Workshop Series Description

Developing High-Performing Teams is a workshop series crafted to empower school leaders with the essential knowledge, skills, and strategies to cultivate and maintain high-performing teams within their schools. Through interactive sessions, participants will delve into the principles of effectively leading teams and enhancing team performance. Participants will gain tools and techniques to align teams around a common vision, establish clear objectives, and craft strategies to lead their teams through future challenges and opportunities. 

Participants will learn the obstacles and potentials school leaders encounter in fostering collaboration and excellence within their teams. They will gain insights into nurturing a positive team culture, fostering deeper collaboration, and empowering team members to work cohesively towards shared goals. By investing in the development of their teams, leaders can unlock their full potential in today’s changing educational environment.

Outcomes

After the completion of the course, participants gain:

  • An understanding of what makes teams high-performing. 
  • Actionable insights and strategies for cultivating performance within teams. 
  • Development of skills necessary for guiding and motivating team members towards shared goals. 
  • A network of peers committed to fostering high-performing teams within their schools. 


They will accomplish this through:

  • Strategies to advance their skills as team leaders. 
  • Exercises designed to foster a deeper understanding of effective team leadership. 
  • Rich discussions about leadership in high-performing teams. 
  • 3 live, interactive sessions with your peers   

Session Descriptions 

Each 60-minute session will include a brief presentation, opportunities for breakout discussions, and guided design activities to begin collaboratively and take back to our schools. Participants will have a chance not just to plan for school-specific work, but learn from and share experiences with peers from other schools.

Session 1: Introduction to High-Performing Teams 

In this session, we will explore the foundational principles of high-performing teams. Participants will identify key characteristics that distinguish high-performing teams from average ones and discuss the critical factors that contribute to team success. This session sets the stage for exploration in upcoming sessions by establishing an understanding of what makes a team thrive. You will leave with a solid foundation to build upon as a leader.

Session 2: Your Role in Team Success

This session focuses on the role of the leader in fostering team success. Participants will learn about various leadership styles and techniques that enhance team performance and cohesion. We will explore strategies for setting clear goals, providing effective feedback, and fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration. By the end of the session, you’ll be equipped with practical tools to inspire and guide your teams toward excellence.

Thursday, March 13, 2025: 9:00-10:30am PT / 10:00-11:30am MT

Session 3: Sustaining High Performance In the final session, we will address strategies for maintaining high performance over the long term. Participants will explore methods for continuously improving team dynamics, managing change, and keeping team members motivated and engaged. We will discuss the importance of ongoing development and adaptability in sustaining high performance. This session ensures you are prepared to lead your teams with a focus on long-term success.

 

 

About the Instructor 

Susanne Carpenter | Partner, Consultant, Coach

Susanne Carpenter is the principal and founder of Carpenter Leadership Consulting- a leadership consulting and executive coaching firm focused on helping leaders and leadership teams become high-performing and strategy-focused. Channeling her own experience as a leader, Susanne empowers others to unlock their full potential, fostering confidence, effectiveness, and success. Her goal is to help her clients reach their fullest potential and lead with impact. She believes that when leaders are at their best, their organizations thrive. 

Before starting her firm, Susanne was the Assistant Head of School at Walnut Hill School for the Arts. She has also served as Director of Admission at Nashoba Brooks School and Worcester Academy. 

She is a graduate of Westover School and received her B.A. from Wheaton College. She is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) through the International Coaching Federation and is also a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach. She is currently the treasurer for the board of trustees at Westover School. Susanne lives with her family in the Boston area.

Participants will register for the full series. In the case that you are not able to attend all three sessions in real time, all registrations include access to session recordings. Registrations are non-transferable and access is limited to the person who has registered. Recordings should not be shared.

For each three registrations from a member school, a fourth registration will be provided free of charge. Once you register three, please contact NWAIS Registrar, Vivian Hoang with the full name and email of your fourth registrant. Bring a whole team or your key team leads to think holistically about your school's approach to team development.

 

Cancellation 

Substitutions may be made any time prior to the first workshop. Written cancellations received for courses prior to the first workshop are eligible for a refund after a $50 cancellation fee.
