Important Update - Course Postponed

Part of the value of offering a multi-session course is to create a community of learners. In an effort to make the course sustainable and effective we are going to postpone the beginning of the course until the second session. The first session will be cancelled, and the remaining three session will stay as scheduled. We have added one more session on February 12, 2025.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN

Audience

The four-session series is designed to be broadly applicable to teachers, staff and school leaders. This course will build skills and strategies for those who are looking to more effectively partner with parents directly, as well as those who support and coach educators in their parent interactions. All who are interested are welcome to participate .

Workshop Series Description

This four-part course delves into practical strategies for educators who want to improve parent communication. Based on books discussing parent engagement, these sessions will explore various communication methods, including phone calls, emails, newsletters, meet-the-teacher nights, conferences, and strategies to help educators help parents to break down barriers and advocate for their child. The aim is to provide teachers with actionable advice and tools to build strong parent-teacher partnerships, even if making phone calls isn't their forte.

Outcomes

Through the workshop series, participants will develop a deeper understanding of and practice with parent relationships. Educators will gain experience in both participating in and guiding parent-educator partnerships.

Attendees will build skills and strategies to support:

  • Differentiated communication strategies.
  • Effective communication facilitated by practical tools.
  • Increased confidence in parent-teacher interactions.
  • Stronger partnerships with parents/caregivers for student success while maintaining professional boundaries.
