Managing Political Boundaries In Divided CommunitiesVirtual Session Via Zoom September 13, 2024 - 9:00-10:30am PT / 10:00-11:30am MT Heads of School and other school leaders are invited to join NWAIS retained legal counsel, Karen Kalzer, for a free “Ask Me Anything” roundtable to hear about the nuances of managing political expression and boundaries in school communities. Karen will walk through aspects of sample policies and scenarios impacting schools as we prepare for a fall that will be heavily impacted by the election and geopolitical events. There will be significant time reserved for questions and answers so that we can learn together about how this divisive time is impacting schools throughout the NWAIS region.
Ms. Kalzer practices employment and education law with an emphasis on defending complex litigation for communities of faith, non-profits, schools and private employers. Ms. Kalzer has handled and successfully resolved over 300 claims of employee misconduct by combining tough incisive legal tactics with an empathetic litigation approach and compassionate communication skills. Her practice requires targeted experience in areas of privacy rights, Constitutional issues, mental health, and human development. Additionally, she has tried professional liability and employment discrimination cases to verdict in District Court and Superior Court and engaged in oral argument in Divisions I and II of the Washington State Court of Appeals and the Washington State Supreme Court. She has practiced in both State and Federal Court. She is experienced in managing complex multi-plaintiff litigation and bringing the matter to a successful and cost efficient conclusion. Registration Registration is now open! This event is open to those affiliated with member schools only and offered at no charge. Registrants will receive the zoom information as well as access to the recording via email. * Links to recordings and materials will remain active for two weeks after the session.
