Session DescriptionsOctober 19, 2023 - 3:00-4:30pm PT / 4:00-5:30pm MT Introduction to Artificial Intelligence in Education: Understanding how ChatGPT and AI will Impact Education This workshop explores the rapid rise of ChatGPT and provides teachers with examples of how AI will impact teaching and learning. Discover new educational technologies that incorporate AI features. Engage in reflective discussions to explore the possibilities, challenges, and ethical considerations of using AI in education. October 26, 2023 - 3:00-4:30pm PT / 4:00-5:30pm MT Mastering ChatGPT to Create Lesson Plans: Crafting Effective Prompts for Desired Outcomes This workshop analyzes how to effectively use ChatGPT to construct lesson plans. You will engage in hands-on activities using ChatGPT to generate lesson plans, activities, and assessments. Using the Backwards Design Framework, you will explore how to construct effective prompts to get the results you want from ChatGPT. You will also reflect on the efficacy of generative AI in lesson planning through insightful discussions.
November 2, 2023 - 3:00-4:30pm PT / 4:00-5:30pm MT Harnessing the Power of New AI-Enhanced Edtech Tools: Exploring Innovative AI Edtech Tools for Effective Teaching and Learning This workshop evaluates how new AI-enhanced applications can help you become a more effective and productive teacher. Through a combination of demonstrations and hands-on activities, you will explore a range of AI-enhanced tools that can enhance classroom instruction, assessment, and personalized learning experiences for students. You will also investigate new AI-enhanced tools that students can use to improve their learning.
About the Instructor![]() Dr. Jim Dunnigan Instructor, Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, Arizona State University Dr. Dunnigan has extensive classroom experience in K-12 schools as well as a decade of teaching in higher education. As a member of the AI Learning Futures Collaborative at ASU he researches the possibilities and implications of AI in education.
