Meet Our Facilitator
Mark Crotty, Executive Director, NWAIS
Mark Crotty is in his 40th year of working in independent school education, and his fourth as Executive Director of NWAIS. Before coming here, he served as head of St. John’s Episcopal School in Dallas. There he spearheaded improving relations, particularly on the board and vestry level, between the school and its parent church. Before St. John’s, Mark held many different positions at Greenhill School in Dallas and the Episcopal School of Acadiana in Lafayette, LA. His first experience with school governance came when he served as the initial board chair of a small school that, while 20 years old, had never had a board. Since then, Mark has also served on the standards committee and boards of the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest and The Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools. A prolific writer and presenter, Mark has worked with schools, boards, and associations all over the country with his powerful workshops and presentations.
Series Overview
In this series of workshops, attendees will explore the role of trustee, and provide a space for board members to learn from national thought leaders, experienced board chairs, heads of school and association leadership.
Offered throughout the year, each workshop has a theme for board improvement and actionable steps to move your school forward. Previously this workshop was recommended for those new to the role, but feedback was that it was universally valuable. All independent school board members are encouraged to attend.
