Education Credits
NWAIS offers Washington State Clock Hours and STARS Credits for specific events. Washington State Continuing Education Clock Hours are a means of ensuring that Washington State certified teachers and administrators stay current in their fields. NWAIS is an official in-service administrator of clock hours for Washington State. Clock hours are offered for NWAIS-sponsored programs that are at least three hours in length. The specific number of clock hours available depends on the length of the program. There is no cost for employees of member schools. Others may obtain lock hours for a fee of $10 per event. To receive Clock Hours attendees must:
If these requirements are not met, participants can apply for Clock Hour credit using the Professional Growth Plan program. NWAIS no longer offers clock hours for programs offered by member schools. Schools who would like to offer clock hours can apply to become clock hours providers directly with OSPI or attendees can use the Professional Growth Plan program to apply for clock hours. The purpose of Washington STARS (State Training and Registry System) is to ensure quality care for all children through increased opportunities for basic and ongoing training for childcare and early education and school age providers. STARS Credits will be available for Washington state approved teachers and administrators at certain NWAIS programs. Check the specific event to determine if STARS Credits are available. The cost is $10 per event. To receive STARS you must sign-in for the exact sessions you attended during the event. If you do not have payment, you may sign-in for STARS and remit payment within 20 days by sending a check to the NWAIS office at 5001 California Ave SW, Suite 112, Seattle, WA 98136. NWAIS is happy to provide a certificate of attendance for your records for any Professional Development event, free of charge. If you would like a certificate of attendance, please request one during the event or contact Cindy Steele, NWAIS Registrar. Want more information?
